When Twitter announced it was going to geotag its tweets, there was a level of excitement we at geone.ws shared. Several Twitter clients built in support for the technology, which captures the location of the tweet at source.

Twitter have upped the ante today by announcing they have acquired Mixer Labs, the creators of GeoAPI.

Co-founder Evan Williams said on the Twitter blog: “We look forward to building features together that will make Twitter even more interesting and relevant to your daily life, no matter where you are.”

This blog will be launching in January 2010. If you have an interest in geolocation, please bookmark this page, or subscribe to our RSS feed, or follow us on Twitter (@TheGeoNews)
